I have toyed around with putting together a list of places riders have enjoyed stopping for a meal or treat while out on the road. So here it is, and as a living document, we shall add to it as more inputs are received. Note – I have added the contributors name to the location so that you know who to blame when the heartburn starts…
Washington
- Frugal’s (Port Angeles, WA) – one of my favorite burger places on the Olympic Peninsula. Drive-thru only, even without the pandemic. Get creative. Use that tank bag. Get a shake. [Tim A.]
- Oak Table Cafe (Silverdale, WA and Sequim, WA) – great breakfast location, and they also serve lunch M-F (sorry, breakfast all day on Sa and Su). This is a local family owned place – mom owns the one in Sequim, daughter owns the one in Silverdale. [Tim A.]
- Maple Counter Cafe (Walla Walla, WA) – Owned by another daughter from the Oak Table family, food is just a s good! [Tim A.]
- Sweet River Bakery (Pateros, WA) – Located on the east side of the Cascades along the Columbia River, this little cafe serves very good sandwiches and fantastic treats. [Tim A.]
- Heidleburger (Leavenworth, WA) – A small little hamburger stand on the west side of town just before you head up into the Cascade Mountains. Great burgers, fries and shakes. [Tim A.]
- Blue Moose Cafe (Port Townsend, WA) – this place is a hidden little gem in the “industrial” section of Port Townsend. The only issue I have had with eating here is the inability to get up out of my chair when done. And the coffee is top notch. [Tim A.]
- Cinnamon Twisp Bakery (Twisp, WA) – Be sure to get a cinnamon twisp while visiting the destination in nearby Winthrop. [Patrick M.]
- The Hop Thief (Walla Walla, WA) – “Love their tap wall: where you get a credit card and can pour your own beer, wine, cider or sangria
. Food options are amazing too.” [Katy L.] - Alibi Tavern (Pomeroy, WA) – “The Tri-tip sandwich was simple but delicious and came slathered with a house-made BBQ sauce. The fries were perfect. - Deschutes Brewery Public House (Bend, OR) – great food, good beer, nice location in the heart of Bend near the Deschutes River and a nice park. [Tim A.]
- Fisherman’s Market (Eugene, OR) – “Another Triple-D joint. The dungeness crab dinner is to die for.” [Andrew A.]
- The Jersey Lilly Tavern (Roseburg, OR) – “Best burger in town.” [Andrew A.]
Idaho
- The Breakfast Club (Moscow, ID) – hometown of my college education and my favorite breakfast place ever. Be careful – don’t bother going on a “parents” weekend! [Tim A.]
- Season’s Burgers and Bites (Lewiston, ID) – This little bistro style place serves a lot more than burgers! Try the sirloin bites with sweet potato fries. I dare you! [Tim A.]
- Meltz Extreme Grilled Cheese (Coeur d’Alene, ID) – “Try the “potsticker”. They won awards with this one, but all of their grilled sandwiches are “over the top” good!” [Andrew A.]
- Jimmy’s Down the Street (Coeur d’Alene, ID) – “Famous for their homemade cinnamon rolls. Triple-D recommended.” [Andrew A.]
Montana
- Tamarack Brewing Company (Lakeside, MT) – nice pub style restaurant with great food. [Tim A.]
- Echo Lake Cafe (Big Fork, MT) – great little breakfast place in the midst of the Flathead Valley southeast of Kalispell. [Tim A]
- Parker’s Restaurant (Drummond, MT) – “150+ burgers on the menu and they’re great.” Note – their website says closed on Sundays. [Rod B.]
